Lakeside Lodge is an exclusive eco-retreat on the banks of a magnificent lake in the Wilderness National Park, in the Knysna District of South Africa's beautiful Cape Garden Route region. Only 5 minutes to the beach, and close to Knysna and George, Lakeside Lodge offers self catering or bed and breakfast accommodation set in the most peaceful forest and lake surroundings.

There are seven tastefully decorated lake facing rooms, a guest lounge with a full size billiard table, a computer with 24 hour internet connection and a welcoming fireplace for those chilly winter days.

Outdoor activities include swimming pool, mountain bikes, tennis court, golf chipping on the lawns, and spectacular bird watching. Canoes are available for hire.

On our doorstep we have unspoilt golden beaches on the Indian Ocean, fishing, diving, paragliding, hikes, trails and more. And within scenic day drives you can visit the Cango caves and Ostrich Farms, or picnic in the Knysna forests

Although there is much to do at Lakeside Lodge, there is also a lot to do in the vicinity, and we are ideally situated to enjoy most of the offerings in the Garden Route

Our objective is to help guests plan their days so they have a full day's enjoyment from our central position, while feeling at home at Lakeside Lodge.

Many guests come for a day and then extend their visit for several days once they discover how easy it is to enjoy the Garden Route while staying at this fantastic setting and with all our other facilities to enjoy in between times. We hope you will find this so as well.

The sunrise over the lake is a must, and a feature of life at Lakeside Lodge (have your camera ready). This can be watched from one of the benches, or for some spectacular shots go down to the jetty.

There is nothing like a canoe ride on the still waters at sunrise to appreciate the abundant birdlife of the area. Take a walk through the forest, or arrange for a bike and cycle out to Swartvlei beach and gather shells as the mist lifts. Visit the bird hide at Rondevlei, to see who the early-feathered risers are. By now the coffee may be out!

After the sunrises our Lakeside Breakfasts are the start to your day and can be taken inside next to the fire, on the verandah, or out on the lawns. We encourage guests to get together socially over breakfast.We will be in attendance to help you plan your day and attend to your special needs like onward bookings, or extending your stay!!!

Breakfast is a self-service buffet, followed by eggs and bacon to order. Our speciality is pure fruit juices from our farm factory in the Cape, home made fresh fruit salad and an assortment of delicious preserves from the fruit farms in the area as well as our own home baked health bread. Enjoy a leisurely breakfast from 8.30 onwards, we won’t rush you

Sunsets are magnificent in this area. They can best be seen from the shoreline on the opposite side of the lake, take the car or bikes.

Alternatively go to the lagoon mouth and watch it set over Gerike's Point. Or simply sit out at our pool and enjoy a sundowner while the sun slides away behind the dunes.

For the early eater there is nothing like getting the braai and beer on the go, we can help. Of course this is the time the bar opens and we all try to get together. Please join in.
