 CABS Car Hire was the official car rental sponsor for Comrades Marathon 2011 – 2012, The Ultimate Human Race.
Whilst runners prepared themselves for the gruelling 89 kilometre run from Pietermaritzburg to Durban on the 3rd of June 2012, the staff of CABS Car Hire KZN, were preparing themselves for an extremely busy weekend.
5 Fully branded vehicles took to the stage during the race, taking care of the transportation requirements of some of the many CMA officials. It has been an honour to be associated with a huge event such as Comrades and to be able to assist in a small way with the many requirements needed by such a large organisation to pull off this remarkable international event.
 CABS Car Hire partnered with the Lions Club of Cowies Hill, to man a refreshment station at the top of Cowies Hill. The last major hill climb for the runners and an exceptional view for all the people manning the station. All the fantastic people that worked at the station from around 06h30 to around 18h30, giving out water, Energade, banana’s, potatoes, Pepsi, biscuits and chocolates, did so on a completely volunteer basis. It was truly beautiful to witness people give of their free time to assist all the runners that made it to our refreshment station, get closer to the end. Constant inspiration and motivation came from Jane Wicks, Lions Club of Cowies Hill, keeping all the volunteers ‘on their feet’ and even running up the hill with some of the runners, edging them on. You get so involved in their quest, all you want is for them to finish and achieve the goal they set out to do.
TEAM CABS Car Hire KZN – You were incredible! The entire team gave up their time for a full Sunday, bringing with all friends and family who would dare take on the task. It was a wonderful experience having the entire crew together, proudly displaying the CABS logo, to experience and be part of this amazing annual event.
Aside from all of the above, we still managed to ensure all our clients received vehicles and the service they expect from CABS over the weekend.
